The weekend of November 2-3, 2013, the troop held a weekend campout at the Troop 9 cabin on the Nobscot Scout Reservation. Saturday was spectacular, with dry, sunny conditions and temperatures in the sixties. The troop arrived at Nobscot mid-morning for the short backpacking hike to the cabin. Activities included a totin’ chip class followed by the construction of a camp table – two A-frames with cross-planks – which came in quite handy adjacent to the dutch oven cooking area.
Later in the day, the troop embarked on a night hike up to Tippling Rock, where the night was clear and a small portion of the Boston skyline was visible, some 20 miles to the east. The hike also visited the Smallpox burial ground.
Sunday morning greeted the Troop significantly colder than Saturday, with snow flurries dotting the area.
